Meet Dr. Apfel

Dr. Apfel graduated from Boston University with honors, attaining a bachelor degree in biology in 1975 and a doctor of dental medicine in 1980. She received several awards including two in operative dentistry from Boston University and The Academy of Operative Dentistry. Dr. Apfel also received an award in public health. She served an externship at Governors Island treating the coast guard and their families. She worked at Bellevue hospital in the clinic and emergency room after graduation in 1980. 
Dr. Apfel worked for other dentists for eight years gaining experience and then opened her own practice in 1988. She has been in Gramercy Park since 1990.



She has presided over the Boston University Dental Continuing Education program in New York since the early nineties. 
Dr. Apfel had served on the Boston University Dental School Alumni Board for over fifteen years, having been the president of the board for three of those years. Her affiliations are with the American Dental Society, the New York State Dental Society, and the New York County Dental Association. She attends conferences and continuing education lectures on a regular basis. Dr. Apfel also teaches students from Boston University who are placed in her office in a program outside of the school in order to learn what a dental office is like, how it is run, and how dentistry is practiced in a real life setting.
Her hobbies include travel, dining out, theater, exercise, and enjoying the company of her friends and family. Dr. Apfel has been married since 1993. She and her husband live in Manhattan and enjoy all it has to offer.
